Union meeting ICS

The Concordia dropped out of Slipspace above the world 89002 as was listed in the ‘to explore’ list of the Union forces. The ship was a dart cruiser and was flanked by its two razor class escorts, the three ships kept close order as they approached the world.
The bridge was bustling as personnel worked at their stations and passed on information, at the centre of the bridge in the captain’s seat sat Volkus, a easy going man who had recently gained captainship and in return was given the chance to explore new horizons in his also new ship the Concordia he had already taken a liking to her, and he watched the crew bustle around until one of the men shouted out.
“I have life signs! The world is populated sir; it also seems they have 2 space faring ships in orbit. Judging by size I would say they are escort size” The sensor operator said aloud.
“Hold steady, advance slowly but do not show any signs of aggression, this is a first contact situation. What is their status?” Volkus asked his blond hair shining in the artificial light of the bridge.
“They are not moving sir, sensors tell us they are not powering weapons and they appear to be scanning us sir” Came the reply with efficiency.
“Hail them, I want a video link open now” Volkus stepped down from his command chair and stood chest out, head forward and hands behind his back, a sign of respect all Union personnel showed to other people.
There was a quick time lag between connecting and the link came up. A captain with a powerful posture appeared on the screen.
“Greetings, I am Volkus, captain of the Concordia and member of the Union of Worlds, I mean no harm and I wish to seek possible relations” Volkus said enthusiastically, he also saluted. The man bowed in return.
“Greetings to you too, I am Karlos, captain of the Undying Light and a member of the Interstellar Covenanted States. I bid you welcome my friend to Eridanus-Naz, please you may anchor your ships in orbit and may come down to the planet, as representatives of our two empires we shall make the first steps towards a possible peace between us” the man explained to Volkus in a very polite tone.
“Thank you, we would be honoured to meet you in person and to build the foundations of a long and prosperous friendship for the both of us” Volkus saluted again with a smile on his face and in return Karlos bowed. The link terminated, and the crew burst into action again.
“Sir we are receiving landing co-ordinates” the communications officer exclaimed.
“Good. Helm take us into orbit and all crew stand down, have my shuttle prepared and ready to launch in 10” the captain ordered.

The shuttle rocked a little due to atmospheric turbulence, the captain was in the back along with 10 Union marines in full exo-powered armour, and he held within his hand a Union mandate and a data chip containing the entire history of the Union. It was meant as a gift of good will to the ICS as I sign of friendship. The shuttle landed on the designated zone and the ramp went down, Volkus was in full ceremonial dress and he walked sternly out of the shuttle with his complement of honour guard. He looked around at the reception laid out for him and he smiled in surprise, the entire parade ground was filled with troops who saluted when they saw Volkus. The Union group approached what looked like the governor of the world, and they both saluted each other then shook hands.
“Welcome to Eridanus-Naz, we of the ICS wish to greet you and begin a long and fruitful relationship with the Union Of Worlds, we are honoured to have you here, as a token of good will we give you this” the governor looked at an aid who was carrying a basket of a type of crystal, she walked forward bowed and held it out for Volkus, who respectfully bowed back and took the gift.
“That is our currencies, worth 2,000,000, take it as a gift” The man explained in elation. Volkus smiled and presented his gift.
“I captain Volkus holder of this Union mandate on behalf of our great empire is grateful for your generosity and too wish to have a prosperous relationship between our two great empires. I present you this as a sign of friendship, it contains all the information about our empires history, hopefully it will help in deciding relations between us” Volkus and the Governor shook hands and they both smiled. The ICS troops cheered and the Union marines also cheered. Both empires had found a new ally.
