UPRISING: The Offensive Begins

"Sir, our raiding teams have failed to land an attack on the enemy base. Their artillery have managed to halt their advance, the teams are retreating to base as we speak, sir," the officer reported. Zeraph Dzarya, General of the Revolutionary People's Army, frowned at the officer's report. He brought up the holographic map into the air, bringing the layout of their city and the surroundings to display. Several blue arrowheads are seen on the way back to the city, representing the injured raiding teams meant to harass the enemy base.

"Gunrya, tell those teams that they are to be reassigned to the city's fortifications forces. Under Lieutenant Yous's command,"

"Yes sir, right on it," replied Officer Gunrya.

'While you're on it, reassign Lieutenant Kontor and his forces from Central to the city walls as well. I need our defences to be ready in an imminent attack ASAP," Zeraph stood up and walked out of the command room to the balcony to get a breather. The view of the once glorious mining and industrial city now devastated and bleak greeted him. Inspired by the uprising of other cities on the planet, Zeraph had raised an army from the local populace of disgruntled miners and workers and worked to bring down the city government. The immense support from both his people and arms from various foreign nations, especially the enjoyed support of the newly heard-of Separatist Union, made short work of the government's security forces in mere weeks. The city was quick to capture and the government to be executed, installing Zeraph's military command as the new regime. Consequences were great however; the short civil war had ruined much of the city and its infrastructure and facilities. And now, they had failed to eliminate the newcomer from the Allies while they were weak. Now that they have a strong foothold, Zeraph forsee them preparing for the attack and forcing his forces into the defensive in the city. He sighed.

He had heard much of this 'IRS' from his Separatist allies. Tales of their imperialistic ambitions, ruthlessness and blatant attempts at genocide. If all of these were true, then there is no chance of a second chance. A second revolution. A revolution needs people, and if the people are wiped out, there can be no new regime nor a new military.

Zeraph placed faith in the righteousness and bravery of his Revolutionary People's Army. Maximus had always been their home. If someone else is going to take it, they sure as hell be prepared to spill more blood then what inch of the city they can take.

"Civilians expendable when necessary. Keep them low profile and clear up after your own mess. We do not need our reputation to be soured by such trivialities," the holographic image of Admiral Gala spoke. The commanders in the room nodded in agreement. The leader among them and in charge of the war effort on ground, Colonel Fazli Bin Usman, stood up and brought up a map of the region, highlighting their base and the rebel-occupied city.

"Alright gentlemen listen up! We're going to skim through the plan and target profiles right before the operation starts, a little refresher for you all. Intel reported that these rebels are local and calls themselves the Revolutionary People's Army. Eliminated the local government in two weeks and installed themselves a new regime under General Zeraph, who used to be a General in command of the local military garrison. They are very popular with the locals apparently, so don't expect friendly treatment,"

A new screen is switched over, this time with detailed positions of the IRS forces.

"Our scouts have been sent ahead for recon, and they have reported a military build up at the city borders. They've dug in deep and have a large amount of resistance posted all around with all sorts of emplacements, armored vehicles and possibly artillery as well. Breaching the city isn't going to be as easy as we thought it would be so there's some slight changes to the plan,"

"Heavy rocket and cannon barrage is going to soften them up at the Front Gate. Main force comes in fast and strike hard there, keeping their most concentrated forces busy while our flanking elements are going to probe and try to breach the city from the sides. Once they've entered, they will infiltrate enemy lines and assist main force from there. Once Front Gate is down and secure, establish a foothold and await additional reinforcements while keeping our perimeter intact. When we're ready, we will begin Phase 2. All clear?"

"Yes sir!" answered the rest of the commanders.

"Then let Operation Sierra Fall begin gentlemen. Dismissed!"
