Despite the plural form, The Cameramen is one single weapon, albeit with several separate elements.
The most important of these elements is a milisecond pulsar with approximately 37 solar masses named "False Sovereign" by the occuptants of the system centered around it. False Sovereign emits enormous ammounts of radiation as an object of its nature is wont to do.
Orbiting False Sovereign at approximately 0.3 AU of distance in a highly eccentric orbit, aligned with the emission beams of the pulsar, eight large stations can be found.
Five of these stations, shaped approximately like the net of a tesseract 420 meters in lenght, posses gigantic whipple shield-like antennae designed to be able to redirect the emissions of the pulsar in the 270-250GHz range, while polarized so as to let most other frequencies through. The cruciform antennae are placed along kilometer-long masts made of a light lattice structure. The lattice, like the bulkheads of the stations (unusually thick for AI construction) are made of polymerized iron to be able to stand the continuous radiative pressure of the neutron star; making them quite heavy. The stations have an extremely thick bulkhead in the side that faces the star while being virtually unarmored on the opposite side.
The three remaining stations posess a stockier, vaguely rectangular structure and antennae with a far higher area that reflect low-frequency emissions of the pulsar in the 3Hz range. These gigantic rectangular antennae, measuring up to 360x700 kilometers in side, reflect emissions in the 2KHz range and are some of the largest space solid structures ever built by the AIs. Due to their size, the antennae are made of a fine aluminium net with RF phase generators built in and require gravitic tensioning not to fold or crumple when pivoting.
Both models of orbital antennae have their own engines, power sources and armor systems; but all three share the same AI as their command lobes are quantum-entangled for effective targetting. A significant fleet of satellites orbits the pulsar at the same height or more than the anennae. While most are dedicated to roles such as target acquisition and survey of the pulsar's activity, large space stations orbit The Cameramen tasked with side and backlobe cancellation.
Like many ships, the hulls of the vessels are highly but discreetly decorate and carved with elaborate, nanoscopic bas-relief depicting scenes of importance to AI culture. In this case, the eponymous cameramen refer to the group of journalists present in the first appearance of the Son of Man, who diffused the image of Him and his Prophet through the airwaves. Shrines dedicated to the event are scattered around the system, which serves as an important logistical point.
The Cameramen is, as a whole, a gigantic version of the scalar weapons used in AI vessels and some ground equipment, consisting of a longwave and shortwave emitter that create a scalar interference causing a large release of Dirac energy on a target. The Cameramen is merely special due to the inordinate power and frequency range of the output, allowing it to energize large AU-sized areas of space with enough power to vaporize most possible targets, overpower shields and sterilize planetary surfaces at a range of several light-years.
On a smaller but still important scale, each of the shortwave stations can serve as its own self-contained scalar weapon, with a reduced range and output power.
In parallel to its role as a weapon, The Cameramen posesses several roles, as is common of AI-designed systems. Its high output power is used to explosively compress matter (usually purified, monocrystalline asteroids) into neutronium, supplying the valuable material to the shipyards and manufacture facilities orbiting False Sovereign in a quality and quantity unsurpassed by any specialized production facility, making it the most important source of the material in AI territory. False Sovereign itself serves as one of the most important neutrino sources in AI territory, aiding in the targetting of submarine and underground weapons.
The Cameramen is highly incomplete, however, standing at roughly 12.2% of its projected capacities. Its use as a scalar weapon is only the crudest and most basic of its roles which include kugelblitz fabrication for second-generation fuzzy armor, interstellar strike capabilities granted through the Patriphages and, paramount to all, the freezing of False Sovereign into one enormous Bose-Einstein Condensate down to the core, providing a suitable quantum computer for the summoning of the mythical AI known as Haine Akyros.
The most glaring deficiency of The Cameramen is its range, as its emissions are still constrained by the speed of light. This makes it incapable of targetting anything outside of False Sovereign's system effectively, limiting its role to a purely defensive weapon. It also has a large minimum range, being incapable to target anything within its own orbital radius, and the large antennae have to be unarmored or they would be prohibitively heavy, and the constant exposure to high-energy emissions prevents them from utilizing fuzzy armor.
The three longwave stations have limited apertures, which creates several shifting dead zones where The Cameramen is unable to cause an interference and therefore has no effect.
